Hula Treat Bags...

After a very LONG and busy week, I am back... again, and hopefully for good! Last week was a very emotional week for me.

My Grandma's funeral was held on Tuesday and then on Thursday was the start of my daughters' Keiki Hula Competition. This year, my oldest daughter was chosen as the female soloist to represent her halau. After many hours of practice (which of course I teared up each time watching her), it was finally her time to shine on stage. Although she didn't win, she did an amazing job and we are all so very proud of her! On Friday night, both DD1 & DD2 performed their Kahiko chant with their hula sisters. I was so nervous for DD2, but she pulled it off like a pro. That night they announced the winners of the Kawena'ula Keiki Hula Scholarship winners and my DD1 was awarded one of the scholarships! Woohoo! This award was based on a nomination from their halau, a written essay, and academics! We were once again very proud of her! On Saturday morning, DD1 & DD2 once again performed with their hula sisters the Auana portion of the competition! It was a tough competition and our halau did an outstanding job (yes, I'm a little biased... hehehe) and we are very proud of them all!

Okay, enough rambling for me. I just wanted to share a little about why I was MIA... again. Back to my post. This is the treat bag that I made for the girls' hula sisters on Kahiko night. Luckily I only had to make 14 of these and of course I had some help from my little elves. I will be back tomorrow with some more projects to share! Hope you all have a good week!
